Born on a farm in Ruthin, North Wales and educated locally in Brynhyfryd School, before attending University at University College Wales, Swansea. Emyr moved to Manchester in 1990 and started work for a Multi-Disciplinary Civil and Structural Consulting Engineering practice known then as Shepherd Gilmour.

Emyr has worked for Shepherd Gilmour, now known as SGi. Consulting Engineers, for over 34 years taking ownership of the company some 10 years ago. SGi | High Quality Structural & Civil Engineering Services (sgiconsulting.co.uk) a highly respected Civil and Structural Consultancy for schemes throughout the UK, with scheme values varying from £10million up to £350million.

Emyr’s speciality lies in Strategic sustainable residential developments, Industrial Developments, Hotels and Multi floor residential developments and is instrumental in the design of many of the new wave of Build to Rent development in the UK.

Emyr is a member of the Northwest Advisory Board for Teenage Cancer Trust and is very passionate about the promotion of the amazing work being undertaken by the trust Teenage Cancer Trust | UK Cancer Charity
