House of Commons Lunch with guest Alec Shelbrooke MP

17/02/2020

The House of Commons provided the perfect riverside setting for the latest Interact Luncheon last week [6th February].

50 members and guests from the across the UK gathered in the February sunshine for a drinks reception and networking on the terrace pavilion. National President, Simon Parker provided the welcome address, following which, guests took their seats in the parliamentary dining room to hear from our speaker for the afternoon, Rt. Hon. Alec Shelbrooke MP. Alec was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Elmet & Rothwell in May 2010 and subsequently continues to secure a Conservative majority in his constituency in West Yorkshire.

Hearing first-hand on the current Government thinking within the built-environment sector provided the basis for a lively question and answer session over lunch, which covered big-hitting topics such as planning, apprenticeships, modular building, modern methods of construction and design quality.

Simon commented, “Having valuable insight from Alec during this event really demonstrated the Government’s intent to shape an exciting future for the property and construction industry; one which provides career development for our next generation, tackles current ineffective legislation and promotes design excellence in the UK. The Q&A session always provides an opportunity for our guests to raise specific questions to our keynote speaker relevant to their businesses or sector so, on behalf of Interact, we thank Alec for his valuable responses and his time in attending the event.

The next Interact event is due to take place at MIPIM 2020 on Wednesday 11th March. For further information, and to reserve tickets, please click here.
