Thoughts from our Immediate Past President

Erol Erturan served as president of the National Committee of Interact from May 2022 to May 2024.

Erol’s many successes in his time as President include re-establishing a number of branches and helping the formation of new branches. Erol successfully increased member numbers from 350 to over 470, ensured the financial health of Interact, and improved communications through setting up WhatsApp groups and a national Linkedin account.

For Erol the highlights of the role were getting to visit each of the branches across the UK from Edinburgh to Hertfordshire and meeting so many Interact members and seeing first hand the diverse range of events being held by each Interact Branch. Other highlights include the 25th anniversary of the Liverpool branch, and attending national Interact events at the House of Commons, the RAC and the ICE HQ.

Erol joined Interact in 2015 from two former chairs of the Bradford branch. Erol had not heard of Interact till then and found himself the chair of the branch in 2 years or so after joining

Erol is Founder and Managing Director of Adept Consulting Engineers. Erol works on and in the business from strategy and growth to delivery of projects. Erol regularly travels between offices in Leeds, Manchester, London and Sheffield. Erol likes to take on projects that have an aspect of travel and recently has been involved in sites in Kilkeel and Istanbul for an aerospace company as well as a site in Stornoway for a telecoms company. Adept is a growing civil and structural consulting engineering practice, currently employing over 65 colleagues. Adept work in a range of sectors including industrial and logistic, education, residential, hotels, healthcare and city centre regeneration projects.
