Exciting future plans for the Northern Region of Interact

04/10/2024

I support and encourage the local branch chairs across the northern region in hosting joint events, I also organise region-wide events, and hold regular meetings with the chairs to discuss any and all things Interact – what works, what doesn’t work, the similarities and differences between the different branches. I also report back to the National Committee on how things are going in my region and whether there is scope for new branches, and I help with organising Interact’s UKREiiF offering each year.

My role covers the branches in Liverpool, Manchester, Manchester South, Bradford, Harrogate, Sheffield, Humberside, Edinburgh and, of course, Leeds which is my home branch.

We’re currently organising a lunch for October (with the support of the National Committee), a breakfast in January, the UKREiiF lunch in Leeds on May 20th and a celebration lunch in July. I’m in discussion with Sheffield about a joint event in Wakefield and have spoken to the other chairs about other get togethers. I also recently went up to Edinburgh to meet our Chair up there and see how we can involve them more in regional events

At a recent Northern Branch Chairs’ lunch we discussed all sorts of things including how we price our lunches, the scope for new branches, member numbers, levels of engagement with members, venues, potential joint events, problems (few), each branch’s future plans (lots!)

We’re all part of Interact because we believe making those personal connections with fellow professionals produces better outcomes for our projects – it’s not just a way of getting more work. It was widely agreed that a regional forum is a useful addition to Interact – we all work across cities and regions and this forum gives us greater engagement across the north.
